“A contemporary building reflecting the effect of science fiction upon 1970’s architecture, and include a hexagon”. This client’s brief was anything but routine, posing an exciting creative challenge.
The hexagon became the form around which the front entrance pylon was designed, with the revolving doors echoing the hotel aspirations. The building form itself adds to science fiction directive. The building design received positive support from the Parish Council and Wycombe District Council Planning Department and is now considered a building of interest within the Chilterns AONB. The grounds surrounding the building remain grasslands with no additional landscaping.
Wide corridors create free-flowing space linking recreational, accommodation and dining spaces. The interior of the building is of hotel proportion, including gymnasium, bar, a 15-person cinema and private staff apartment. Internal spaces are completed to high standard.
